We have been hearing about Xiaomi working on a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge-like dual-edged display smartphone for quite some time.
Rumors had it that this phone was codenamed as the Mi Arch, however it now seems like that Xiaomi is taking even name cues from Samsung's ‘Edge' display smartphones. As per the claims by a fresh report, Xiaomi's upcoming edged display smartphone is named the Mi Edge.
The latest reports coming from China suggest that Mi Edge will be a mid-range smartphone that will feature a 5.2-inch dual-edge display of QHD quality offering 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution, and with a pixel density of 565PPI.
In terms of functionality, the curved display on the Xiaomi's phone is believed to work similar to the Samsung's Galaxy S6 smartphone with edged display. The Xiaomi Mi Edge's curved display is likely to feature notifications from various apps including games and stock market updates, or might as well come with shortcuts to different apps.
As for its hardware, the Mi Edge is expected to be equipped with Snapdragon 808 hexa-core chipset paired with Adreno 418 GPU. The chipset might come coupled with either a 3GB or 4GB of RAM. Additionally, the phone is likely to feature a fingerprint sensor.
As per speculations, the phone this dual-edged display smartphone could be priced for about $391 or approximately Rs 26,000, which is even less than half the launch price of the Samsung's Galaxy S6 Edge. The phone is expected to come sometime in October, though there is no confirmation or reliable information available about even its existence.
