Xiaomi Redmi 2 gets a price cut: Here are 5 other popular smartphones that now cost cheaper

Xiaomi has today announced a price cut on its budget smartphone, the Redmi 2. The company has earlier teased the price drop of the affordable smartphone which was launched at Rs 6,999 earlier this year. The phone is now available for Rs 1,000 less at Rs 5,999.

You can buy the smartphone on the company's website, as well as through its online and offline shopping partners which include Flipkart, Amazon India, Snapdeal, The Mobile Store and Airtel.

Xiaomi's Redmi 2 is not the only smartphone that has received a price cut in the recent past. Earlier, OnePlus also gave a substantial cut in the price of its flagship killer smartphone the One, following which Xiaomi Mi4 too shed its price.

The phone now costs Rs 14,999 for the 16GB variant, and Rs 19,999 for the 64GB variant, in comparison to its original price of Rs 19,999 for 16GB and Rs 23,999 for 64GB. It flaunts a 5-inch FHD 1080p display with OGS technology, runs on a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core CPU with 3GB RAM, and sports 13-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front facing cameras.

Touted as the flagship killer, the OnePlus One is loaded with high end features, and is placed at an attractive price point. The phone recently got a permanent price cut of Rs 3,000. In terms of specs, it boasts a 5.5-inch display at 1080×1920 pixel resolution, Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front facing camera and CyanogenMod 12 on Android. It is powered by a 3100mAh Lithium-ion battery.

After OnePlus and Xiaomi, Huawei has slashed the price of its Honor 6 smartphone. It is now being sold for Rs 16,999 that is Rs 3,000 less than its launch price of Rs 19,999.

The smartphone flaunts a 5-inch full-HD 1080p display at 1080x1920, is powered by an octa-core Hi Silicon Kirin 920 processor with 3GB of RAM, and 13-megapixel rear camera paired with 5-megapixel snapper up front.

Google powered Motorola-made Nexus 6 was initially priced at Rs. 44,999 for the 32GB variant, but is now available for Rs. 34, 999, exclusively on Flipkart. Similarly, the 64GB version can now be bought for Rs. 39,999, instead of Rs 49,999.
The Nexus 6 comes with a 5.96 inch AMOLED display at 1440x2560 pixel resolution, a 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 13-megapixel snapper, and Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.
