Nokia has been making a lot of device at the lower midrange segment. The Indian mobile phone market has already witnessed two different smartphones from the Finnish giant so far including Nokia Asha 501 and Asha 210.
However, it looks like Nokia is craving for more, as now the company has come up with one more basic budget handset Nokia 301 with 3.5G internet speed for faster internet experience.
Going by the form factor, Nokia 301 features a classic ‘candybar' design and comes with a display size of 2.4-inch TFT screen offering resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and 167 ppi pixel density.
Further, the mobile sports a 3.2MP smart camera that includes features like image capture, editing and sharing options, including Panorama, Sequential shots, Self-portrait and there's a 5-in-1 camera app that lets users choose and apply one of five camera effects to an image.
Further, the photo sharing option in Nokia 301 will directly let user pick image from the gallery and share to social networks. Also, users can share photos and other content using Slam, which comes built into the Nokia 301. Not only that, but with the latest Nokia 301 the users can now stream movies for free on 3.5G network with UTV movies app.
The Nokia 301 is available in Easy Swap Dual SIM model. Nokia's EasySwap Dual SIM allows people to switch SIM cards without turning off the phone. Connectivity options include 3G, GPRS, EDGE, WLAN, Bluetooth and USB. The device also enables users to access popular apps like Facebook, Twitter and eBuddy directly from the homescreen.
Moreover, Nokia 301 is powered by Li-Ion 1110 mAh battery that offers over 20 hours of talk time and nearly 34 day's standby. Available in cyan, yellow, magenta, black and white, the Nokia 301 is priced at Rs. 5,349.
Nokia is definitely targeting the lower mid range segment of the mobile phone market and is venturing into the budget friendly mobile phone category as well. However, considering the competition in the market, specially the growing craze for Android device loaded with 3G support, Nokia 301 is bound to give some serious competition to other budget devices like Samsung Galaxy Music Duos, Samsung Galaxy Star, Spice Stellar Jazz Mi-353, Micromax Smarty 3.0 A30, Karbonn A1+, Huawei Ascend Y210D and Lenovo A60+. Perhaps Nokia 301 has 3.5G feature to its advantage.
Here below in the slides, GizBot has cared to highlight the specs of the top five rivals of the Nokia 301. All the devices are supported by dual SIM and 3G network.
Launched in December last year, Galaxy Music Duos is priced at Rs. 5,299 on Flipkart, and can easily stand against Nokia 301. This can be said as, Samsung Galaxy Music Duos decent specs and featuring including a 3 inch capacitive QVGA LCD screen offering a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and a color depth of 262 K.
Further, it is a dual GSM SIM phone that runs on Android v4 Ice Cream Sandwich platform with a layered TouchWiz UX user interface. Powered by a 850 Mhz Cortex-A9 processor backed by 512 MB RAM, the phone has an in built memory of 4 GB which can be extended up to 32 GB with a microSD card. Further, Galaxy Music Duos sports a 3 megapixel primary camera along with a touch and auto focus feature. Connectivity option include GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi, microUSB and Bluetooth as well to make data sharing easy and it sports DLNA as well. Powered by a Li-Ion 1300 mAh battery the phone is claimed to give you up to 15 hours of talk time on any 2G network. As the Galaxy Music Duos has more internal storage capacity and sports a 3G connectivity along with dual SIM support like Nokia 301, it can be considered as one of the affordable options.
Priced at Rs. 4,999, Spice Stellar Jazz Mi-353 is cheaper than Nokia 301. But, the desi rival has all the specs to counter against the global giant. Spice handset boasts a 3.5 Inches HVGA capacitive screen, resolution 320 x 480 Pixels, dual GSM SIM, Android v2.3 Gingerbread platform, 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 256 MB RAM, 3 megapixel primary camera,1.3 Megapixel front facing camera, AGPS, 3G, Wi-Fi, microUSB, Bluetooth, 512 MB ROM, expandable up to 16 GB and 1500 mAh battery.
When compared, Spice Stellar Jazz Mi-353 has an advantage of having a front facing camera but again lacks to have a better internal storage capability.
Sitting in India, Micromax has taken away the sleep of many global tech firms, same is the case with its budget Smarty 3.0 A30 handset which is available at Rs 3,999. The highly popular phone sports a 3-inch TFT Capacitive Touchscreen QVGA display, 320 x 240 Pixels resolution, dual GSM SIM phone, Android v2.3.7 Gingerbread platform, 832 MHz processor, 256 MB RAM, 2 megapixel primary camera, connectivity option include GPRS, 3G, Wi-Fi, microUSB and Bluetooth. The phone has a 512 MB ROM which can be extended up to 32 GB with a microSD card and 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery.
Ascend Y210D by Huawei is priced at Rs. 5,449 on Flipkart. It has a better graphics and bigger display and supports a dual SIM along with 3G connectivity. This may be a safe buy as well.
Specwise, Ascend Y210D houses a 3.5 Inches TFT TFT LCD HVGA display, resolution 320 x 480 Pixels, color depth of 262 K, dual SIM (WCDMA + GSM), Android v2.3.6 Gingerbread platform, 1 GHz Qualcomm Cortex-A5 processor, 256 MB RAM, Adreno 200 graphics, 2 megapixel primary camera, EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi, microUSB and Bluetooth.
