Nokia Asha 210: Dual SIM Handset Launched With Dedicated WhatsApp Button and QWERTY Keypad

|

Adding glamour to its much acclaimed Asha series, the Finnish giant has much up with Asha 210. Nokia says the handset comes with a dedicated WhatsApp button making it the first mobile device ever crafted by any tech vendor. It's a full QWERTY handset, and basically targeted towards ‘social butterflies'. The Nokia Asha 210 supports Wi-Fi, but does not have 3G or 4G LTE built inside. It has all the fancies of being called as a true feature phone.

The handset will be available in Single SIM and Dual SIM variants. It has been priced at $72 (Rs. 3903) in the International market. Surely, Indians are big fan of Nokia, and the company also understands the same. The handset is expected to be rolled out sometime in the second quarter of 2013. Expect Nokia to announce the pricing as well as release date of the above mentioned handset pretty soon.

Talking about the design of the Nokia Asha 210, it is quite identical to Nokia Lumia series, especially, the lower end models featuring WP8 OS. The device will be made available in Yellow, Cyan, Black, Magenta and White colour. There is a thin line between modernity and tradition: The Nokia Asha 210 fits somewhere between the two. Besides dedicated WhatsApp feature, Nokia has made sure to include: Facebook, Twitter and preloaded YouTube streaming app.

The handset uses Nokia Xpress Browser, for lag free browsing experience. There is an app called Nokia Nearby, which let you find updated list of Banks, shopping malls and Restaurants close to your location. There is a feature built into the device called Slam, which let you transfer your content to other Bluetooth handsets without pairing. The similar feature can be found in Micromax Bolt A35, and is known by the name of Swipe ‘n ‘share.

The Nokia Asha 210 is a modest attempt to woo those who still find solace with their old age Ericsson and Motorola handsets. The device tried to give smartphone like features at decent price. In comparison to Samsung's REX series, the Nokia powered Asha 210, is way better. The device packs a 2.4-inch QVGA display with resolution of 320 X 240 pixels. 169 ppi, Full size QWERTY key-Pad, Social features like WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter built into the device, a dedicated WhatsApp button, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi, 1,200mAh battery fitted inside, 32MB of internal memory (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card), S40 mobile OS, supports up to 1000 contact info, a 2-mega pixel fixed focus rear camera , no front facing camera present for long video chat, FM Radio, MP3 and video player present, weighs 99.5g, and standard stereo headset present inside the box.

With Nokia Asha 210, the tech vendor has come up with rather plain device. It is neither a cheap low end feature phone nor gives your smartphone like features. The built in QWERTY key-pad, is refreshing, and logical too, as no can beat the charm of physical keyboard. Earlier this year, the Finnish giant has come up with the Nokia Asha 205 featuring dedicated Facebook button. Would you buy world's first handset with dedicated WhatsApp button?
