Nokia Asha 500, 502 and 503: What Are The Differences?

Finnish mobile phone manufacturer, Nokia, recently announced three new handsets as a part of the Asha series at an Abu Dhab eventi. The devices come dubbed as the Asha 500, Asha 502 and Asha 503.

These three handsets feature a new design which the company calls 'Dual shot layering effect'. The device also looks like the budget phones coated with a 'crystal-effect' casing. All three of them look alike in terms of design. However, there are minimal differences between the three devices when it comes to specs. So GizBot has come up with a differences between the three devices in the following specs rundown:

Display

Nokia Asha 500 comes with a comes with 2.8-inch. While the other two, Asha 502 and 503 comes with a slightly larger display measuring 3.0-inch. All the three device come with a LCD display offering QVGA resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. However only Asha 503 comes with curved Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection.

Operating System and RAM

All three device run on the Nokia Asha software platform with a layer of Swipe UI and 64MB RAM. However, there is a 1.2 version of Asha platform present in 503 while the other devices come with the older version 1.1.

Camera

Asha 502 and 503 come with 5MP rear camera with LED flash while the Asha 500 has a 2MP without flash. There is no front facing camera on all the three devices.

Connectivity

All three Asha handsets come with a Dual SIM Dual Standby (optional) support along with other connectivity features like 2G, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 with SLAM and FM Radio. But out of these three only Asha 503 comes with 3G support.

Storage

The company has not revealed the internal storage capacity of the devices but all the three handsets suppot up to 32 GB external storage via microSD card.

Battery

The Asha 503 features 1110 mAh battery with up to 12 hours of talk time (2G) and up to 20 days of standby (dual SIM). The Asha 502 also come with the similar 1110 mAh battery with up to 13.7 hours of talk time and up to 24 days of standby. The Nokia 500 on the other hand features 1200 mAh battery with up to 14 hours of talk time and up to 22 days of standby.

Price

All the three device come in Bright Red, Bright Green, Cyan, Yellow, White and Black color variants. However, the Asha 500 is priced at $69 (approx. Rs. 4,250), the Asha 502 is priced at $89 (approx. Rs. 5,490) and Asha 503 will come at the cost of priced at $99 (approx. Rs. 6,100) excluding taxes or subsidies.

Conclusion

Looking at the specs comparison, one can easily say that Asha 503 comes with the best specs with 3G support and Gorilla Glass Protection. On top of that, the Asha 503 also features a good 5MP camera. The users who need longer battery back-up may also go ahead and take a look at Asha 500. However, Nokia fans should also know that all these handsets will come pre-loaded with WhatsApp messaging app.
