Nokia Releases Nokia Browser For S40 Device
Ever since Mobile internet became a reality people have used their mobile phone to access the internet more frequently than their computers. The main reason for this was perhaps the faster content loading time and the affordability of the mobile internet packages in comparison with their PC counterparts.

And browsers too have shifted concentration to mobile platform and now almost every major internet browsers have a mobile version. Mobile browsers are the key element in providing a good internet experience so that users will prefer usage of internet on their mobiles rather than on their PC"s in spite of the fact that mobiles provide a much smaller display that requires you to scroll always for seeing the full web page.

Nokia has also cashed in on this trend and introduced its own Web browser for its S40 phones. They have been doing well ever since its launch and now Nokia has decided to bring in a newer and updated version of its S40 Web Browser. The new updated S40 Browser has all the features of its predecessors but also carries in some new goodies to make internet surfing a pleasurable activity. Nokia aims to make Web surfing through mobiles a fun and easier and also minimise the data costs for users.

The New Browser has a new name that replaces the old OVI Browser name. The upgraded version is called the Nokia Browser. The Nokia Browser seems to be more of a dominating name when taking into consideration the brand identity of Nokia mentioned in the name of the browser. The name also makes it easier to distinguish it from other competing browsers.

In order to make web browsing faster and also to reduce data usage the Nokia Browser relies on Data compression technology. As per this technology the web pages that people want to access are compressed at the server side rather than the normal procedure of compression at the client browser side. The compressed data is then sent to the client and thus it reduces the size of data downloaded. This technology is not a newcomer as it was used way ahead of Nokia by Opera for their own PC based and mobile web browsers. Opera christened it as Opera Turbo.

Features such as Multi Page Web browsing and website categorisation according to the content it has at its disposal have been integrated onto the browser.

Another first time innovation is that the Nokia Browser will feature support for web applications. Users can choose from a number of applications available or select an app that is compatible with the Nokia Browser.

The Nokia browser will be pre installed in upcoming phones like Nokia C2-02, C2-03 and C2-06. Existing users can upgrade their old S40 Web browsers by downloading the new Nokia Browser here.
