Amid the news that Nokia Lumia 920, the official Windows Phone 8 flagship phone by the Finnish tech giant is still awaited to reach Indian market by the end of January 2012, rumors have already swirled in the tech media world about the successor of the highly appreciated WP8 smartphone. According to TheVerge latest and exclusive report Nokia is prepping to release a lighter, thinner and sleeker version of Lumia 920, dubbed by the name of Catwalk in the coming months of 2013.
What Features to Expect?
Reportedly, Nokia will dispense the device with the polycarbonate shell that the company has used in all of its high-end Windows Phone handsets in favour of an aluminum build.
TheVerge report citing sources familiar with Nokia's plans, has also noted that the Finnish manufacturer is currently planning to launch three more Lumia smartphones this year including the Nokia Catwalk.
The report also includes that the new device will be relatively thinner and lighter than the current flagship smartphone of Nokia Lumia 920 and will debut as a replacement to the the same, but with similar internal hardware specifications.
Moreover, the incorporation of aluminum casing will take Nokia back to the pre-Windows Phone days, wherein the company launched Symbian devices including N8. Also, this will let Nokia to compete with the size and weight of Apple iPhone, which was not possible with the polycarbonate body in Lumia 920.
Nokia Catwalk - What About Release Date?
While MWC 2013 is scheduled to happen in February 2013, there is no certainty if Nokia will launch the device at the event, as it will reckon the sales of its latest offering - Lumia 920. Hence, an official announcement at the annual Nokia World event during September or October this year could be a better option for the company. However, in the end, it all depends Nokia on when it could reap more benefits from the upcoming smartphone.
