Size And Form Factor

The device isn't very thin at 10.4 mm. But then its much more sleek than previous Lumia devices like the 920. When we did place the handset on tables and surfaces, the phone's chunky rear camera did tend to make first contact, causing to fear for its safety in the long term.

Handling

Given its 4.5 inch screen size, the display was easy to hold and make calls with. In fact, its size made it big enough to provide a decent reading experience without overwhelming our hands. One hand operation for calls was easy, so was navigation. But for more intense tasks like typing and browsing you're going to have to call upon the powers of both your hands.

Display

The phone uses an LCD display and we found it to be much brighter than our Lumia 925 unit. Contrasts were much better and we even found it easy to read in bright light. Nokia has even included a nifty tool that lets you fine tune your display by adjusting finer details like color temperature and color saturation. You can find it in Settings > Display + Touch. All in all, its a wonderful display that makes for a solid viewing experience. You can find more details on display quality in our upcoming review of the phone.

The Lumia 1020 is built around its camera. Users will find several useful apps like Smart Camera, Camera 360, Creative Studio, Cinemagraph, Panorama and much more. If pictures are your priority, the Lumia 1020 could be the device for you.
