Nokia's cheapest Lumia device 520, is also the most popular Lumia device when it comes to search requests, according to Google trends. What's interesting about the Rs. 10,299 device is it did not shoot itself to the top just like that, rather it clawed it's way to the top, gradually. Perhaps, the device has gained in popularity, through word of mouth.
According to Adduplex data the device snatched more then 4% of the Windows Phone installed base, in less then a month, overtaking the Nokia Lumia 720, 820 and HTC 8S. Judging by the way things are going it might not be too far before it can even overtake the Lumia 920.
The smartphone was introduced in India back in April 6 onwards. The device stirred up quite a buzz, given the fact that Nokia did market it aggressively. Reportedly, the device sold out from online retail stores within a matter of weeks.
Lumia 520 which runs on Windows Phone 8, packs a 4-inch WVGA display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 1GHz dual core processor, 512MB RAM, 5MP rear camera, 8GB internal memory, micro SD card slot supporting up to 64GB additional storage, Windows Phone 8 OS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 1,430 mAh battery.
The smartphone contains many of the same digital camera lenses as its high end siblings- Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820. The Cinemagraph feature of Lumia 520 adds motion to still images which can be easily shared with friends on various social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter or via email. Smart Shoot lets people create the perfect group picture, picture, taking multiple images and selecting the best facial expressions from each, or even remove people from the shot. Panorama lens can be used to capture wide-angled photos, to take in more of the scene.
Lumia 520 brings along with it maps and navigation from HERE, free music streaming facility, PeopleHub - Which brings all social media notifications and messages into one convenient location, Xbox integration for games, as Microsoft Office with Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Nokia may not be the most popular phonemaker in the world, but they sure do know to make some great phones, Nokia 520 is one great example of that. The display of this device is a bit of downer, as it is little smoky compared to it's elder brothers, regardless it still is quite a charming device to have in your pocket.
