Nokia Lumia 925 and Lumia 625 Smartphone's Launched in India: What's The Difference?

|

Back in May 2012 at a press event in London event, Nokia unveiled Lumia 925 for the first time; touting it's lightweight aluminium body coupled with PureView technology. Finally, the high end camera phone has hit the Indian market officially. At an event in Delhi today; Nokia officially launched its Lumia 925 along with mid-range smartphone Nokia Lumia 625 at Rs. 33,449 and Rs. 19,999 respectively.

Allowing the company to take on a plethora of mid-range and high-end Android devices, the heavyweight Lumia 925 and the mid range Lumia 625 will be available on retail shelves, starting August 23.

Lumia 925 - Key Specifications

Being a premium smartphone, the Lumia 925 is set in an elegant metal frame with a polycarbonate black, delivering the luxurious feel that its price tag demands. The handset features a rich 4.5-inch AMOLED Clear Back Display with a resolution of 768 x 1280 pixels and Gorilla 2 Glass for some solid protection. Further, it will come powered by 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor along with 1GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. While, the handset lacks a microSD card slot, but Nokia makes up with a 7 GB free SkyDrive cloud storage.

Further, Lumia 925 sports an 8.7 megapixel sensor with Optical Image Stabilization and fF/2.0 aperture. An LED Flash in the rear ensures solid low-light performance as well, making the device a joy to snap pictures with.

If that isn't enough, Nokia has done more to enhance the phone's imaging potential by arming it with a delightful Smart Camera app, which allows users to capture splendid images in a variety of shooting modes, including burst mode, Best shot, Action Shot and Motion focus. In other words, if you're looking for photographic bliss, then the Lumia 925 is your pick.

Lumia 625 - Key Specifications

Moving onto the Lumia 625, the smartphone is targeted at a mid-range consumer category and it will also have to take on the likes of strong Android competitors like the Google Nexus 4.

Pick up the device and you'll agree that it stays in line with Nokia's Lumia design scheme, using a single, solid polycarbonate case that comes in a range if bright colors. The device is powered by a solid Snapdragon S4 1.2 Ghz dual-core processor, 512 MB of ram and boasts 8GB of internal storage along with external storage that can be expanded upto 64 GB. A 4.7 inch LCD screen manages to deliver a 800x480p resolution and 201ppi pixel density.

For imaging, it uses a 5 megapixel camera in the rear and a VGA shooter in the front, which is a let-down when compared to competing phones in a similar price range. The device has a wide range of connectivity options that include Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 + LE and GPS+ GLONASS.

Both devices run Windows Phone 8 and come with the Amber update, allowing you to enjoy the latest goodies from Microsoft and Nokia. However, the big question is - if you're looking for a smartphone upgrade, which one should you buy? The Lumia 925 or the Lumia 625?
