Nokia Lumia 900 Coming to India Finally, Can it beat Samsung Galaxy S3? [Specs Teardown]

Nokia has been betting big on Lumia 900 ever since the company announced its plans to adopt Windows Phone as the primary platform for its smartphones. Lumia 900 was launched in the US market through AT&T carrier on a $100 contract, then the company dropped the prices of Lumia 900 in the country by half. Apparently, the price of a contract free Nokia Lumia 900 for the US is $ 449 (approx. Rs 24,555).

When launched, the Lumia 900 became the top seller at Amazon Wireless and Shakers list with the cyan variant boasting 394 percent growth in first few days. It then outperformed the sales of iOS and Android devices in other retail stores.

Consequently a recent newsbreak has swept the whole Indian tech world that now Lumia 900 is coming to India at a price of around Rs 30,000.

Update: According to the report, the best buy price in India of the Lumia 900 is now Rs 32,999.

While the whole tech media world is awestruck (good to say disappointed) with the iPhone 5 launch, it seem that Nokia has silently released the Lumia 900 smartphone in India, according to BGR India report.

Earlier, there were several reports from numerous sources hinting that the handset will be launched in the country alongside the Lumia 610, the cheapest Windows Phone smartphone in late July or early August. Howevr, turning down the rumors Nokia released only Lumia 610 in the Indian market in July.

Now, it seems like the Lumia series handset manufacturer has released the Lumia 900 smartphone without much fanfare in the Indian market.

According to BGR India report, Nokia India has confirmed the launch and it is said to get the Windows Phone 7.8 update, which will bring additional camera features and new homescreen.

The report went on stating that “Nokia has finally launched the Lumia 900 in India for a best buy of Rs 29,999 and an MRP of Rs 31,900.” Hence, let's take a final look at the breakthrough features Nokia Lumia 900.

Display: Lumia 900 would come sporting a rounded edges and flat top and bottom look. Further, it would have a vivid display of 4.3-inch Clear Black AMOLED with 480 x 800 pixels of resolution backed by strong, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass. Battery: Nokia Lumia 900 would come loaded with a standard Li-lon 1,830 mAh battery with up to 300 hours of stand-by, 7 hours of talk time and 60 hours of music play.

According to industry analysts, Nokia has big hopes from Lumia 900 in the Indian market as the company expects that the new device should help it turn tables, while it was losing the makret shares in the Indian market after the launch of Samsung Galaxy series.

When it comes to Galaxy S3, its specifications include a 4.8 inches of Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, Corning Gorilla Glass 2, TouchWiz UI Quad-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A9 processor which makes it faster, an 8 mega pixel camera, 1.9MP front camera and many other software features as well.
