Nokia Asha 205 Arrives in India at Rs 3,499: All That You Need to Know About Dual SIM Handset
Late November, Nokia launched two new entry-level handsets - Asha 205 and Asha 206 and assured that the handsets will hit the retail shelves of the Indian market by the end of this year.
On Tuesday, the Finnish manufacturer has unveiled the dual SIM variant of Asha 205 in India with a price of Rs 3,499. Asha 205 comes with a QWERTY keyboard and a dedicated Facebook button. As of now, there is no information on the availability of the single SIM version of the handset, while the dual SIM variant priced at Rs 3,499 will be released into the market on Christmas eve.
As far as the specifications are concerned, Asha 205 has a 2.4 inch LCD display with 320 x 240 pixel resolution, VGA rear camera, 10MB free user memory, microSD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth v2.1 with EDR, 3.5mm audio jack connector and a 1,020 mAh BL-5C battery offering 11 hours talk time and 608 hours standby.
Besides, impressive specifications and Facebook button, Asha 205 has some advanced and exclusive features onboard to make it stand ahead of the crowded budget handset market segment.
Moreover, by launching a dual SIM handset in the sub Rs 3,500 price range, Nokia has entered into direct competition with the other such handsets in the market.

Nokia Asha 205 Features
Xpress Browser
Nokia Asha 205 comes preloaded with Xpress Browser. As claimed by Nokia, consumers can experience twice the browsing speed with the new browser app at no extra cost. The browser will offer 90% more efficiency to mobile browsing and also lets users to access web applications quickly as compared to normal browsers.
Nokia Nearby
Nokia Nearby is a web application helps users to discover what is around them even without the access to GPS.
Nokia Life+
The handset includes free Nokia Life+ web app including the Life Skills and Live Healthy services for consumers.
Nokia Asha 205 Slam feature
Slam Feature
Along with Asha 205 and Asha 206, Nokia announced Slam feature, which is included in the handset. This Slam feature helps consumers to share multimedia content including photos, videos, music and more with friends in close proximity almost instantly. Also, as per the company statement, with Slam consumers can pair devices via Bluetooth without the necessity of pairing the devices.
Easy Swap
Asha 205 comes with the Nokia's industry-leading Easy Swap technology, which allows users to switch between multiple SIM cards easily without rebooting the handset.
Micromax Smarty A25
Micromax A25 Smarty sports a 2.8 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 240 x 320 pixel resolution, Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread, 1GHz processor, 256MB RAM, 120MB internal memory, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB, 1.3MP camera with fixed focus, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and a 1,280 mAh Li-ion battery offering 4 hours talk time and 180 hours standby.
Priced at Rs 3,899, the handset is pre-loaded with several social-networking applications along with the Hookup Instant messaging app.
Being a dual SIM handset with similar price point, A25 could be a stiff competitor of Asha 205 with its larger display and improved camera performance.
Samsung Champ Neo Duos
Samsung released a dual SIM feature phone in India in September - Champ Neo Duos featuring a 2.4 inch TFT touchscreen display with a QVGA resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, 20MB internal memory, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable memory, VGA rear camera, Bluetooth 3.0, micro USB 2.0 and 1,000 mAh Li-ion battery under its hood.
Champ Neo Duos is available for Rs 3,260 and it is targeted towards the first time touchscreen users. With similar specs and price points, both Asha 205 and Champ Neo Duos could be potential rivals of each other.
Lava Iris N320
Following the launch of Iris N350, Lava launched Iris N320, a budget Android smartphone priced at Rs 3,999 to take over the other handsets in that price range.
Dual SIM Iris N320 has a 3.5 inch capacitive multi-touch display with 320 x 480 pixel resolution, single-core 1GHz processor, Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread OS, 2MP rear camera, 100MB internal memory, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 256MB RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2G and 1,400 mAh battery.
Lava Iris N320 is priced at Rs 3,999 and could pose a threat to Nokia Asha 205 with its larger display real estate, etter camera and slightly improved battery.
