Nokia Asha 501: 5 Head to Head Rival Smartphones in India
Nokia recently launched yet another low budget smartphone Asha 501 on Thursday, May 9. However, the smartphone was unwrapped with a unique mobile operating system. As we all know, Nokia Asha 501 is the first device to introduce the new Asha software platform.
The handset carries impressive features such as, 1 GHz processor, 64 MB RAM, 3-inch display screen that offers visuals at 320 x 240 pixels and 3.2 MP primary camera. The Asha 501 has both single and dual-SIM variants, The Internet support is offered through different platforms like WiFi, GPRS and EDGE. The Xpress Browser pre-loaded in this handset offers cool browsing experience for the user but It sadly lacks 3G support.

Micromax Bolt A51
The third smartphone in the bolt series of Micromax Bolt A51 hit the Indian market last month with the lenient price of Rs. 4,599. It is powered by an 832MHz Broadcom single-core processor and comes with a 3.5-inch HVGA display. The smartphone runs on Android 2.3.7 (Gingerbread) and has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi direct, 3G connectivity. I comes with a 2-megapixel rear camera and 0.3-megapixel front camera. It is a dual-SIM smartphone that comes with 256MB of RAM and 512MB of internal storage with microSD card slot which support up to 32GB.
Priced at Rs. 4,369, Micromax Bolt A51 may beat Nokia Asha 501 as it has the lesser price, front facing camera (0.3-megapixel) and the 3G connectivity which Asha 501 doesn't have.
Samsung Galaxy Young
With 3.27 inches full touch display the Samsung came up with entry-level dual SIM Android smartphone Samsung Galaxy Young lately. It runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) platform and comes with 768 MB RAM, 2G and 3G support, 4 GB built-in memory capacity which is expandable up to 64 GB via external microSD. It has 3.15 MP, 2048x1536 pixels rear camera, and CPU dialed to 1 GHz Cortex-A5.
The smartphone is worth Rs. 8,455 which is expensive compared to its rivals but it may outrun Micromax Bolt A51 and Asha 501 as it runs on Android 4.1 platform and has slightly more megapixel camera.
Karbonn A7 Star
Karbonn A7 Star is already available online on Snapdeal for Rs. 6,190. Karbonn A7 Star comes with a 4.5 inch FWVGA capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, Android 4.0 ICS, 1GHz dual core processor, 5MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, 0.3MP front camera, 2G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 512MB RAM, 164MB internal storage, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage and a 1,400 mAh battery.
This smartphone may actually take over the Indian market as it has all the best features than its rival smartphones along with the affordable price. It has one of the best configurations if compared with others with similar price range.
LG Optimus L3 2
After the official launch in MWC 2013, LG Optimus L3 2 was announced in India in April 2013 running on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) with 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth and aGPS Connectivity options.
There is a 3-megapixel rear camera on the smartphone and no front camera. The LG Optimus L3 2 Dual comes loaded with features like- Smart Forwarding, Safety Care and My Location Notice. It has options for dual-SIM that comes with 3.2-inch QVGA IPS display. Optimus L3 II consists of a 1GHz single core processor with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and a 3-megapixel camera.
Although this smartphone is fairly priced at Rs. 7,799, it may have a strong competition with Karbonn A7 Star and Samsung Galaxy Young and definitely Nokia Asha 501, as they all have a very alike specs and pricing.

The striking design, and vibrant colours actually makes it look attractive and in addition the 501 also wears a removable covers and bold colours just like the Lumia range. In fact, Asha 501 actually resembles Lumia 520, both in design and numbering.
Nokia's Asha 501 may not have the multi-tasking capabilities of Jelly Bean or ICS, but it has basic apps for social networking like, Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, LinkedIn, eBuddy, WeChat, Nimbuzz etc., and good battery life. Apparently, It may not be as good for the game lovers.
The low budget smartphone which is worth Rs. 5,350 in India, may have to face a tough competition as Micromax Bolt A51, Samsung Galaxy young, Karbonn A7 Star and LG Optimus L3 2 are already on the arena of smartphone rivalry with the similar specs and pricing.
