Nokia XL vs Android Competitors in India: 5 Smartphones Under Biggest Threat
Nokia X range of low-end Android handsets stole thunder from the Samsung Galaxy S5 at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC).
In a surprise move, the company announced not one but three low-cost handsets all powered by Google's Android operating system.
The Nokia X family, which comprises of Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL, will introduce millions of new people to Microsoft and Nokia services, as claimed by the company.
The largest of the three phones, the Nokia XL, is a phablet, and will be made available in Q2 2014. Users will have to shell 109 Euro (Rs. 9223 approximately) to claim the device.
In this feature story, we've tried to highlighted features, specs and current competitors of Nokia XL. Let's get cracking.

Nokia XL: Display, Design, Specs and Camera
You might not have expected Nokia to introduce a massive 5-inch handset powered by Google's Android mobile OS.
The handset reasonably looks like any other handset available in the market. Its 5-inch display (800 x 480) is on a lower side, when compared to competitive handsets.
The Nokia XL, as the name suggests, is wider than the 4-inch Nokia X. The device measures 10.8mm in terms of thickness and weighs 190 grams.
In terms of design, it will remind you of Lumia handsets, which is absolutely fine. Nokia says the XL version will arrive in cyan, yellow, green, black, white and orange.
Talking about its internal specs, the Nokia XL features a dual-core processor powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 SoC, backed by 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. We definitely think phone's specs are underwhelming. However, it should be noted that the Nokia XL is aimed at millions of people who never ever used a connected device ever. Hence, the Nokia XL could be killer phone under Rs. 10,000 price band, especially, in a country like India.
Other highlighted connectivity features include: Dual-SIM, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 2,000mAh battery fitted inside.
On the camera front, the Nokia XL features a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with Auto Focus and an LED Flash. Also, the makers have added a front facing camera in the front side.

Nokia XL - Software
Google's Android OS is the biggest reason why any one would like to pick the Nokia XL. The phone runs Android OS, but the makers have added their own services on the top of it. Users won't be able to access Google Play store, instead you have to rely on Nokia store. Nokia says 75% of Android apps will be usable on Nokia XL.
We think that the Nokia XL is weapon to promote Microsoft and Nokia powered services like Outlook, Skype, Bing search, Mixx Radio and HERE Maps. If you are a developer, you will be able to port apps. The UI is closer to Windows Phone than Google. Nokia has also added its FastLane (synonymous to Asha series) for true multi tasking.
Nokia XL- Final words
The Nokia XL is aimed at fast growing emerging countries like India. The phone's biggest strength is that you get to use Nokia and Microsoft apps at one place. The phone's design is brilliant, but the same cannot be said about its spec sheet.
As mentioned above, we've handpicked top 5 Android-powered handsets with more-or-less similar internal hardware that of Nokia XL. Take a look!
