Nokia's New Apollo Windows 8 phone OS: iOS& Android OS's competitor
The news about an update for the current Windows operating system has been brewing behind the scenes for so long now. Following the Tango update the next one in line is Windows Apollo update. This update is said to give the phone a complete overhaul, visually and also in terms of features and functionality. The Apollo update would be bringing the existing Windows users to the level of Windows phone 8.
Tech enthusiasts were able to get their hands on a promotional video of Windows phone 8 earlier. The video confirms many rumours that were being circulated in the tech world. This demo video was made by Windows Phone manager Joe Belfore and shows some of the features and capabilities of the new OS.
Apollo update would be bringing a wide variety of screen resolutions including HD resolutions into Windows phones. It would also extend its support to multi core processors. This is a very welcome change since most of the Android platforms offer support for dual core and quad core processors where as Windows phones only had single core processors.
This fact is confirmed by the video and also brings about information that Windows Phone 8 will have the similar Kernel as found in Windows 8 desktop or tablet version. Also the mobile and desktop versions will be sharing security, multimedia as well as stack codes. This means that the full Windows features and applications would be made available in the hand held device.
Also the operating system would be coming with improved Xbox integration. There will be a special client application that will allow complete account integration between desktops, tablets and smart phones running on Windows OS. The rumour is that the company will be dumping Zune client for a dedicated companion application.
One other interesting addition will be the presence of full version of Skype in the OS. This would let the users to make VoIP calls just like they make normal voice calls over the phone. This will be a huge benefit for people who need to make regular international calls. Server side compression of websites will be providing to ensure very fast internet access and usage and also 128 bit full disk encryption for security.
This entire features sum up to make the biggest overhaul the Windows operating system would undergo after a very long time. With the advent of Apollo operating system update Apple and Android OS will be getting a very strong competitor.
