OnePlus One Smartphone Finally Launched With CyanogenMod 11S: What Difference Does it Make?

The tech world had been hearing a lot of rumors about this smartphone and finally it's here. Yes, we are talking about the OnePlus One Smartphone which has been unveiled today running CyanogenMod 11S OS. It has been launched by the technology startup company owned by former Oppo executive Pete Lau.

 

Talking about specifications, OnePlus One is powered by Qualcomm's one of the latest SoCs Snapdragon 801 with 2.5GHz Quad-core CPUs, which is also used in Sony and Samsung in their respective flagship devices.

The smartphone coming from the house of OnePlus is in fact released at $299 (approx. Rs. 18,270) for the Silk White 16GB variant and the 64GB Sandstone Black model would cost you $349 (approx. Rs. 21,300). Further, coupled with 3GB of RAM, OnePlus One runs on CyanogenMod 11S OS based on Android 4.4 (KitKat) platform.

Also, it features a 5.5-inch Full HD display offering a resolution of 1920 ×1080 pixels slapped with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on it. On the imaging front the handset is pretty equipped, as it uses a 13-megapixel camera with Sony's IMX214 stacked sensor with 6-element lens, f/2.0 aperture, dual LED flash 4K video recording. Moreover, a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper with f/2.0 aperture is also a standard one.

As informed by the company, OnePlus One will be released in two variants depending on the storage capacity ie. 16GB and 64GB model. Connectivity options include 4G LTE / 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4/5 GHz), WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and NFC. It should be noted that the LTE variant of the device works with bands 1/3/4/7/17/38/40 and 3G model works in bands 1/2/4/5/8.

Dimension-wise, the smartphone measures 152.9 x 75.9 x 8.9 mm and weighs 162 grams, further it draws energy from a heavy 3100 mAh battery.

In terms of availability of the OnePlus One smartphone, it would first go on sale in 16 countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States) via OnePlus Phone Smash, starting April 25th ,2014.

There is no word on whether the device is going to hit the India market as of now but if it somehow gets launched in India, it would roll out sometime later in Q2 2014.
