Oppo Joy Launched at Rs 8,990: Top 5 Best Budget Smartphone Rivals Available in India

Big-ticket phones from HTC and Samsung tend to hog the highlight, but these days, companies are eager to capture growth in the emerging markets. Smartphone players like Nokia and HTC sees affordable handset market as the future.

Nokia, which dominated global handset market for years, launched its Android-powered phones at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC). Similarly, Taiwan-based HTC recently introduced the Desire 210 in India at just Rs. 8,900. Clearly, the low-end segment is critical for handset manufacturers given the fact it will drive volumes in the emerging markets.

Recently, China's high-profile mobile phone maker Oppo introduced a budget handset in India dubbed as Joy in India. Priced at Rs. 8,990, the Oppo Joy comes in two color variants- Black and White.

The new phone features a predictable 4-inch WVGA display having a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Under the hood, it packs a dual-core processor coupled with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, which can be later expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. On the camera front, there's a 3MP rear-facing camera, and a VGA quality front-facing shooter. The makers have added a 1700mAh battery fitted inside.

Looking at its spec sheet and price, we've to say that Oppo's new phone will give tough competition to domestic players, such as Lava, Karbonn and Micromax, amongst others.

Micromax Canvas Doodle 3, Sony Xperia E1, HTC Desire 210 and Nokia X are some wishful handsets you can buy under Rs. 10,000 price slab.
