Asus the Taiwanese PC manufacturer has been in the news since early September, when the company released the PadFone - smartphone and tablet hybrid in India at a price of Rs 64,999 alongside Transformer Pad TF300TG priced at Rs 43,999.

Also, the company confirmed that it was all ready to unveil the next generation hybrid device – PadFone 2 on October 16 in an event in Milan and Taipei simultaneously by sending out invites for the same.

Now, Asus makes it more clear and brings everything at one point by claiming that the company will live stream the event on YouTube starting at 11 AM local time (5 AM EDT).

Coming to the most interesting news about PadFone 2, the Facebook page of Asus Italy confirms that the device will be available for sale soon after its unveiling, hinting that it will be released in October itself.

However, it remains unclear if the page is talking only about Italy or global releases. Whatever may be the case, but it can be definitely said that Asus has created much buzz around the tech media world after releasing a teaser image announcing the live streaming of October 16 event.

Talking about the specifications of PadFone 2, earlier reports claim that the device will have a 4.7 inch Super IPS + HD touchscreen display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, 1.5GHz Qualcomm 8064 quad core processor, 2GB RAM, 13MP rear camera with LED flash and autofocus, 1.2MP front camera for video calling and 2,140 mAh Li-Ion battery. The PadFone 2 could boast a dimension of 137.9 x 68.9 x 9mm and weigh in at around 135 grams.

Also, the leaked specifications reveal the connectivity features including Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 and micro USB 2.0.

An earlier benchmark result reveals some of the information of the PadFone 2 including a 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 APQ8064 processor with Adreno 320 GPU, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
