After teasing the handset for a long time, Panasonic has finally launched it's first octa core powered handset in India at the price of Rs. 18,990. The P81's public availability is said to start from May 21. However, the device is already being sold via third-party online retailer Snapdeal at a minimum price of Rs. 17,999 and promises to ship the device in two business days.
If you haven't still checked our story on what's inside the box for the P81, Panasonic has also bundled goodies with the handset like the premium screen guard and flip cover worth Rs. 2,000, a three month free subscription to India Today Digital Magazines worth Rs. 2,100 and complimentary Evernote premium services worth up to Rs. 1,800 for six months.

The handset is pretty decent and comes with a number of amazing features. The P81 comes with a sleek body measuring only 7.9mm.
It uses a big 5.5-inch IPS display with HD (720p) resolution. It is powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz coupled with 1GB RAM. The company has not mentioned any details of the chipset but we presume that it is the one from Mediatek. The device runs on older 4.2.2 Jelly Bean flavor of Android, and also gets a layer of Play Life UI.

On the camera front, one can expect a 13-megapixel rear camera (auto-focus and LED flash) with f/2.2 aperture and 28mm wide angle lens, and a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper good enough to take selfies and making video calls.
The Panasonic P81 houses 8GB native storage, which is further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card slot.
Other connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth 3.0 A2DP. Just like most of the mid-range smartphones entering the Indian market, it comes with dual SIM functionality.
It comes powered by a 2500mAh battery.
In terms of competition, the latest Panasonic P81 will rival against the Intex Aqua Octa, which was launched earlier this year. The only weak aspect of the latest Panasonic handset is the older version of Android OS.
