We might have the likes of Micromax, Karbonn or Samsung that are currently boasting more market presence than others in the race, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the market will not be open to more new vendors also looking to try out their luck in the market. Hence enters Philips into the race.
Philips, in the wake of heavy smartphone market activity in India, has re-entered the domestic smartphone business with the launch of the brand new W6610, S308 and the W3500 smartphones.
In addition to the new smartphones, Philips has also launched a fresh new feature phone called the E130. As revealed, the company's smartphones have been placed in the mid-range segment. The prices for them starts at Rs. 8,290, while the feature phone is set to be available with a price tag of Rs. 1,960.
Let's take a look at the specifications for each of the devices specifically.
Philips W6610: highlighted Specifications
The Philips W6610 handset comes with a 5-inch qHD (960×540 pixels) display, while the device is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core chipset with 1GB of RAM.
The device also has included in it 4GB of internal storage that is expandable using a microSD card. There's the presence of an 8-megapixel rear camera with auto focus and flash, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and a massive 5,300mAh. And rightfully, the company claims that the battery is good enough to survive 32 hours of talktime.
As far as other connectivity options are considered, it supports dual-SIM card slots, 3G network support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and AGPS. The phone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box and has been priced at Rs. 20,650.
Philips W3500: highlighted Specifications
The W3500 comes with a 5-inch FWVGA display, powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core chipset. There's a 5-megapixel rear camera, alongside a 2-megapixel front-facing camera to take care of the imaging.
The device comes with standard connectivity options while offering Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on the software front. The W3500 is priced at Rs. 16,195.
Philips S308: Highlighted Specifications
The S308, compared to the others, is probably the most affordable amongst all the three smartphones, priced at Rs. 8,290. It features a 4-inch WVGA display, 1GHz dual-core chipset, 512MB of RAM and 4GB expandable memory. There's also a 5-megapixel rear camera.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G network support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and AGPS. On the software front, the handset runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
