Yes, the company is working on to launch some exclusive android phones in to the market to shoot up the 3G business. It was Himanshu Kapania, the MD of the company who declared on this strategy in the second quarter conference.

Even though the aim of the company is to accelerate 3G business, the company claims that the products will be of high quality so that it can also compete with other major players in the nation at present. But it has been made clear by the authorities that the company is not planning to subsidize the product. This will be a blow for someone who is expecting subsidized plans of which other telecom operators in different nation follows. Well, it is obvious that the gadgets will come with CDMA specification. The company is looking forward to gain huge returns with the smartphone business as Idea Cellular has already established efficient brand identity in the Nation. Moreover idea has also come up with some attractive 3G plans for the users even with the GSM network.

There are also rumors that the product from which Idea might roll out will be some of the smartphones manufactured by Huawei. At present both the companies are in a contract, as Idea Netsetter is being manufactured by Huawei. Moreover the company is rapidly rolling out 3G plans into the market.

The telecom company has won 3G rights in 11 different circles in the near past. This includes major circles in the south India such as Andhra Pradesh, Kerala as well as circles towards the north such as Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and even Jammu Kashmir. For the time being there the company authorities has kept their lip locked on the further details of the smartphones inducing the releasing date as well as the price. But according to some other sources the gadgets are expected to feature high end specification as well as elegant battery back up.

However, we could also expect that Idea Cellular will keep in mind to roll out smartphones not just for the CDMA users but also for the GSM users so that will a benefit for the users as well as for the company.
