Rise of Phablets in India: Top 5 Upcoming Phablets to Be announced Soon

Posted by:

Few months back, Phablets were seen as expensive in the Indian market. Majority of the tech vendors in India introduced handsets with 5-inches and above from the middle of last year. Indian buyers  appreciated vendors for bringing large screen size handsets into the market.

Some even scared to see extra large phones with massive display size. Now, it seems that Indian mobile phone buyers are so comfortable in using phablets. According to IDC, out of every 10 smartphones shipped in India in Q2, every 3 handsets are phablets or a handset with 5-inch and above display.

So, who's the winner? It would be difficult to measure the success of phablets in the market, but one thing is clear - Indian consumers understand the technological trends happening worldwide.

Rise of Phablets in India:Top 5 Upcoming Phablets to Be announced Soon

Trend

Originally, Samsung is credited for announcing Galaxy Note in the market. The Galaxy Note was an expensive beast then, when launched in the Indian market. In India the situation is completely opposite of west. Here, if you aim to sell a smartphone costing Rs. 30,000, then you have taken a wrong approach.

India is a price sensitive market and most importantly consumers here would not like to give more than Rs 15,000 for a phablet. What is happening in markets like India and China shows that home grown brands are here to stay.

Brands like Huawei, ZTE, Oppo, Gionee and Xiomi are as powerful as Apple and Samsung in the US market. Moreover, India's Micromax is now the second largest smartphone vendor in India. Clearly, the Indian handset market is enjoying the growth of large smartphones.

Rise of Phablets

There are many advantages attached to a phablet device: a large screen device in your pocket is practically enough to browse web or sending an e-mail to someone. You can watch live TV or catch a full length movie on the go. Do you think after using phablet device there is a need to carry bulky laptop every time? Think about it.

Today, we are celebrating the grand success of phablets in India. This simple list of top 5 upcoming phablets has been prepared for GizBot readers. Take a look!
