Apart from all the fuss about Samsung's Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note Pro and other so called mid-range smartphones and tablets that are suppose to come next year, Samsung has already been executing their last plan of the year in India. The South Korean Giant has slated an event on December 23rd in India to launch their latest handset.
The invite reads "New GALAXY Smartphone Launch" but doesn't give any hint about the device that the company will launch that very day. However, since there is no other devices in our options except for the Galaxy J and Galaxy Grand 2.
However, most of the tech communities are expecting the latter one to be released in the event. The Galaxy Grand 2 is in fact a successor to the Galaxy Grand which was launched earlier this year. The new handset was announced globally last month.
Going by the specs, the Galaxy Grand 2 comes with a 5.25-inch (1280 x 720 Pixels) capacitive touch screen display with 16:9 aspect ratio.
Powering the handset is a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1.5GB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) OS which is quite better than the 4.2 version.
It has an 8MP rear camera with LED Flash and auto focus and is capable of shooting videos at 1080p . There is also a 1.9-megapixel HD front-facing camera for taking selfies and video conferencing.
The Galaxy Grand 2 houses an 8 GB of onboard memory capacity which is also expandable up to 64GB with microSD.
Connectivity options are pretty regular with 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v 4.0, GPS/GLONASS support. While there is a dual-SIM capabilities as well for users who are in need of one.
The smartphone that measures 8.9 mm thick and weighs 163 grams draws its energy from a 2,600 mAh battery. Additionally the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 also has a leather finish on the back, similar to what we have seen in the Galaxy Note 3.
The new Samsung player is entering the market at the rough time, as there are already an ample number of device running show. However, the smartphone will have to battle against the likes of the HTC One, Sony Xperia C, Lenovo P780, Lenovo K900, HTC Desire 600C and also few of the Indian devices as well. But it all depends on the price of the device. We will keep you updated about the device. Stay tuned!
