Samsung originally launched the Galaxy J1 in Malaysia last month. Previous reports in the past have suggested that Samsung could launch the much-awaited budget phone in India by February 2015.
The Samsung Galaxy J1 boasts a 4.3-inch display screen and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, and a 4GB internal memory expandable up to 64GB with a microSD card. It is also equipped with an 1850mAh battery and a 5-megapixel rear camera.

It also comes with a 2-megapixel front facing shooter. The Dual-SIM smartphone runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. Other connectivity options are pretty standard.
It's no secret that Samsung has been waiting to reaffirm its confidence in the lower segment of the smartphone market, currently dominated by the likes of Motorola, Xiaomi and Micromax.
With the Samsung Galaxy J1, the smartphone maker is taking aim at the low-end handset market. The price-tag and specs are designed to blow away the likes of Motorola Moto E and Xiaomi Redmi 1S.
Samsung will be hoping that its trusted brand reputation in India, combined with the Galaxy J1's competitive specs will be enough to tempt anyone looking to buy their first Android smartphone.
