Samsung Galaxy S3 and S3D in the making
Samsung Galaxy range has got a huge welcoming and became popular with the masses in a short period of time. With their success more models in the Galaxy range where introduced that offered cutting edge styling as well as features.
Next in line is Samsung Galaxy S III. This mobile is expected to make an entry in February 2012 at the Mobile World Congress. The expectation is that it will have a quad core processor. The previous leaks from Samsung do not support this though. The leaked slides show that the mobile will have a dual core processor having a clock speed of 1.8 GHz.
The rumours about the quad core processor came from ET News which is a Korean publication. They say that Samsung has opted to use a Quad core processor instead of a dual core one for their new device. This claim seems plausible since other manufactures like HTC have already stepped on to the Quad core mobile processor segment. To stay ahead in the game, such a device is very much needed for Samsung.
The most probable candidate that can come as its processor is Exynos 4412. This chip is not officially announced but the tech world has got a wind of it long time back. This is a 32nm quad core Cortex A9 chip and is surely one powerful processing device. It may otherwise come up with some other quad core chip in the Exynos 5XXX line up. One contradiction is that these chips will be available only later in 2012, so if the company plans to bring out the mobile in February itself they will have to go with some other traditional chipset. Unless Samsung has made some official pact with the chip manufactures to make the chips available for them only before the end of the year. But this seems very unlikely.
The other expectations from the device are that it will have a 4.6 inch Super AMOLED display that packs in a screen resolution of about 1280 x 720 pixels. The camera may have a resolution as high as 12 mega pixels. The operating system is expected to be Android Ice cream Sandwich. Samsung has also been concentrating on 3D technology. It may not be featured in Samsung Galaxy S III but a mobile with 3D capabilities will be launched in the near future itself.
