Although the rumors surrounding Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone - Galaxy S4 have been around for quite a few months, there has not been any official word from the company related to the existence of the Samsung Galaxy S3 successor, except for the accidental disclosure of its name.
However, now it seems like that the silence has apparently been broken, as a section of Samsung's website - Global Download Center has shown a new smartphone with the model number GT-i9500X, with several reports suggesting that it could be the highly anticipated Galaxy S4.
The latest update on the highly anticpated smartphone of 2013 is by SamMobile, the folks over there have reported that the South Korean tech giant has begun to list the next-generation Galaxy S smartphone on its Global Download Center page under the model number GT-i9500X. It also added that although nothing could be downloaded at this point of time, Samsung has given a hint about a upcoming high-end device.
The report also lists some of the specifications of Galaxy S4, claiming that the handset could come with a 4.99 inch Super AMOLED Full HD capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 2GHz Exynos 5450 quad core processor, Mali T658 GPU, 2GB RAM, 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean operating system.
However, there is some confusion about the operating system of the Galaxy S4. While many reports have said that the handset will run either Android 4.2 Jelly Bean or the rumored Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, some other reports have also suggested that Samsung could also go with TIZEN, an open source, standards-based software platform.
Right from the beginning there were several discrepancies when it comes to the launch of Galaxy S4 as some reports claimed that the device will be announced either at CES 2013 or MWC 2013, while some others stated that it will come in April or May this year.
A Samsung representative in Lebanon has confirmed that the next-generation Android smartphone will not makes its presence until May via the Samsung Lebanon Facebook page.
According to the ongoing rumors, Samsung Galaxy S4 is also rumored to come with 16GB/32GB/64GB/128GB variants, which is not present in any existing smartphone.
