The original Galaxy S4 Active wasn't the only rugged handset that the world saw last year. Nearly a year after its release, Samsung is again planning to launch a typical rugged handset under the Galaxy series.
The yet-to-be announced Galaxy S5 Active is scheduled to hit anytime soon, with a hands-on video popping up revealing what the rugged handset has to offer. An AT&T version of the handset with the model number SM-G870A has apparently been leaked.
Not to a surprise, the new tough handset is likely to be similar looking compared with the previous outing. Samsung will add water resistant capabilities to the Galaxy S5, making it more durable and tough in extreme conditions.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active will follow the same design cues from its predecessor. According to the leaked video, the updated handset has a three way standard Android navigation buttons across the bottom of the display. The phone has all the ingredients of being a tough handset, although the rear-back is still made out of plastic, plus you can remove it to change the fitted battery.
The leaked handset appears to be an AT&T version, confirming the existence of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active.
As per spec leak, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is said to come with a 5-inch Super AMOLED 1080p display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, and runs Android 4.4 Kitkat out-of-the box.
There's a new rumor that indicates that Samsung could announce the Galaxy S5 Active on June 12 in New York.
