Samsung Galaxy S5 Hands on and First Look: Interesting Yes, Killer Smartphone - Not Really
Samsung Galaxy S5- UI, Processor and Battery
Initially, we were expecting a big change from the User interface (UI). While the chances aren't path breaking, but you will get to see some minor visual tweaks.
Samsung has indeed freshened up the look and feel of the UI, which is commendable. The UI has new icons to offer in the notification tray, including quick access to S Finder and Quick Connect. Obviously, the device runs Android 4.4 Kitkat.
Samsung made some big changes in the setting menu. Well, you will get to see a black background and circular icons and different layouts. Moreover, Samsung has also added Kids mode, which makes it easy for a user to differentiate between approved apps and regular apps.
As far as the internal hardware is concerned, the Galaxy S5 incorporates a true octa-core processor ( Quad 1.9GHz + Quad 1.3GHz ) , backed by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which can be expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card slot.
The makers have added a 2,800mAh battery fitted inside. It's slightly larger than the Galaxy S4's 2,600mAh battery. Samsung says the flagship phone has an ultra power saving button that will help double the battery. We'll find it more in our detailed review.
Samsung Galaxy S5- Camera
We were amazed to see improved imaging optics used in the Galaxy Note 3. In case of the Galaxy S5, the 16MP rear-facing camera too has a great camera.
You've got a super fast autofocus that Samsung's claims can capture a photo in a mere 0.3 seconds. There's a decent 2MP front-facing camera on the front. Overall, the rear-facing camera is quite a stunner.
