There have been reports all over that the Galaxy S4 Active sequel might get launched on June 12 in New York. While the handset's exact release date remains uncertain, a new leak has sparked our interest in the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active.
Indian import site Zauba has uncovered a brand new Samsung phone, going by the model number "SM-G870A (K Active)". This Samsung-made unannounced handset under the Galaxy series was imported from South Korea to Bangalore on May 20. The handset appears to have a price tag of Rs. 37,290, suggesting that this might be priced along the lines of other big-ticket phones.
Although this particular model number (SM-G870A) related to an unannounced Samsung-made smartphone had been in the news for quite some time, but for the very first time we're seeing an official marketing name (of sorts). This more or less confirms that the special variant of Samsung Galaxy S5 could be known as "K Active", instead of S5 Active, as reported several times in the past.
The SM-G870A has made its way to India from South Korea for testing,which further re-affirms the existence of Samsung Galaxy S4 Active successor, being called K Active. However, so far we've the model number, alongside the marketing name of this handset, although there's no word on the confirmed spec sheet. Well, this upcoming handset might have a 5.1-inch display, making it similar to the existing Galaxy S5 in terms of screen size.
Not long ago, the rugged version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 was spotted in a leaked hands-on video. Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy K Active is expected to be launched on AT&T network in US next month. The device is rumored to come with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB of internal memory, a 16MP rear-facing camera, Android 4.4 Kitkat, 4G LTE , among other incremental specs.
