In March, a report by Strategy Analystics claimed that South Korean tech giant Samsung is on a spree to widen its lead over Apple in terms of global smartphone sales in 2013 with a growth of over 35%. Also, the report suggested that markets including North America, China and the developed regions of Asia and Western Europe will be the key regions of smartphone sales.
It seems like Samsung has already started implementing its new strategies soon after the debut of the new fiscal year. It was only a few hours back that the launch news of Galaxy Win in China started creating a buzz in the tech headlines and so soon here is the launch of a couple of smartphones - Galaxy Trend 2 and Galaxy Trend 2 Duos.
Wondering where is the original Galaxy Trend? The Galaxy S Duos, which is making scorching sales in India is called Galaxy Trend Duos in China. Both Trend 2 and Trend 2 Duos are entry-level smartphones that resemble the Galaxy S Duos a lot and are specially made for the Chinese market.
Specwise, both Galaxy Trend 2 and Trend 2 Duos are quite similar to each other expect for the difference in single and dual SIM support. The smartphones pack a 4 inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and 233 ppi pixel density, 1.2GHz dual core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 3MP rear camera, micro SD card slot, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, micro USB 2.0 and a 1,500 mAh battery.
On the software side, both Galaxy Trend 2 and Galaxy Trend 2 Duos come with Chat ON and the value added services from China Telecom, the major carrier in China. As of now, there is no official word on the pricing of these handsets.
