Samsung Galaxy Win vs Young vs Y Plus: Budget Phone Fight

Samsung has announced three Android based handsets last week. The Samsung Galaxy Win, which has been announced in China, is ready to sail in other parts of the world. While, the Samsung Galaxy Young is a low end device with 3.2-inch display, 1GHz Cortex A5 processor, and 3-mega pixel rear camera on the back.

 

The South Korean giant announced another handset known by the name of Samsung Galaxy Y Plus. It has a 2.8-inch display, 850 GHz processor, and Android 4.0 under the hood. The latter handsets i.e. Galaxy Young and Galaxy Y Plus have been launched in the Indian market. Let's compare all three handsets side-by-side.

 

Samsung Galaxy Win

Display

The Samsung made Galaxy Win comes with a 4.7-inch display with resolution of 480 X 800 pixels. Talking about the resolution, is it way less considering mammoth size of the screen.

Processor

The handset is not in the leagues of Sony Xperia Z or HTC One; still it has decent processing power-thanks to 1.2-GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. Under the hood, you get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Camera

In the imaging department, you get a 5-mega pixel rear camera and VGA Quality camera on the front for long video chats. It would be great to see an 8-mega pixel shooter on the back.

Miscellaneous and price

Samsung Galaxy Young

Display

The Samsung Galaxy Young, as the name suggests primarily targeted towards young brigade of India. The device comes with a 3.2-inch WVGA display with resolution of 320 X 480 pixels. For a low end Android handset, the specification seems adequate.

Processor

Even though, the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is on a lower side, still it is loaded with 1-GHz Cortex-A5 processor and 768MB of RAM found inside.

Camera

In the camera department, the device comes loaded with a 3.1 -mega pixel rear camera with LED flash. The manufacturer didn't provided VGA quality front facing camera. Al least, Samsung should have opted for minimum 5-mega pixel rear camera along with VGA quality front facing camera.

Miscellaneous and price

Other highlighted specifications include: Wi-Fi, 3G, 4GB ROM (expandable memory via microSD card), 1300mAh battery fitted inside, Dual SIM, Bluetooth 3.0, NO NFC, and weighs 112grams. Consumers can look forward to the Galaxy Young at Rs. 8,290.

Samsung Galaxy Y Plus

Display

Another low -end stellar has been brought to India by Samsung is the Galaxy Y Plus. The handset has a 2.8-inch TFT LCD display with resolution of 240 X 320 pixels.

Processor

Talking about the processing speed, the device has 850-GHz processor coupled with 768MB of RAM. As the handset is a lower-end device; this is what you get in at this price range.

Camera

In terms of imaging capability of the Samsung Galaxy Y Plus; add a 2-mega pixel rear camera with no flash support. Even the front facing camera is missing.

Miscellaneous and price

Other highlighted specifications include: Wi-Fi, Dual SIM, 3G, A-GPS, Android 4.0 ICS, 1200mAh battery fitted inside and 4GB of ROM (expandable memory via microSD card). The device is on sale for Rs. 6,290.

Conclusion

At the end, all three recent handsets have different styling and prices as well. The Samsung Galaxy Win is not yet launched in the Indian market, but has decent specifications to reckon with. While the Samsung Galaxy Y Plus, is a handset for starters. The Samsung Galaxy Young does not have premium specs; still it is salable due to the fact of its low price in the market.
