Apple is yet to announce anything in regards to its iWatch , but in the meantime Sammy is almost ready to hit Cupertino-based giant on September 6. Be prepared to witness another clash between two tech titans!
According to Patently Apple, the makers behind Galaxy S4 could announce their much awaited smart watch in September at IFA Berlin. Samsung Gear is said to be officially announced ahead of Apple's much talked about iWatch. It will be sold as a smartphone accessory, if report is to be believed. Well, apart from the release date, nothing concrete has been out yet. If Samsung announces its intelligent watch this year, then it will definitely hit Apple hard.
Earlier this month, Phandroid, first spotted a patent filed by Samsung in the name of "Samsung Gear". The filing mentions " Clocks; parts and fittings for watches; wristwatches; electronic clocks and watches; bracelets; watchbands; control clocks; watches that communicate data to personal digital assistants, smart phones, table PCs, PDA, and personal computers through internet websites and other computer and electronic communication networks". This indeed proves that Samsung is working hard to create a smart watch.
Now another question emerges after seeing this filing is that whether "Samsung Gear "will be powered by Android or Altius OS. Back in February, GizBot had informed you that Galaxy Altius could be a name of smart watch or Samsung branded OS. Each leaked screenshots had resolution of 500 X 500 pixels. The UI sounded similar to Windows 8.
In March, Lee Young, the Executive Vice President of Samsung's mobile Business had stated in an interview that "We've been preparing the watch product for so long. We are working very hard to get ready for it. We are preparing products for the future, and the watch is definitely one of them."
If you think Samsung and Apple are working on futuristic smart watches, then you are wrong. Leading tech vendors from Microsoft to LG to unknown Chinese players are coming with intelligent watch. Apple is so serious about iWatch that more than 100 engineers are said to be working on the device. The iPod hit maker could announce its smart watch in 2014. Stay tuned to GizBot.
