Samsung has a reputation for bringing in their updates very slowly. But they would eventually roll out the update even if it takes some time. Samsung Infuse 4G owners have been waiting for a firmware update for a very long time. Finally Samsung has announced the availability of new update for Infuse 4G users.
The phone presently runs on Android 2.2 Froyo operating system. This firmware version contradicts with the very large display and other cutting edge features in the phone. When the world moved on to Gingerbread and Ice cream sandwich versions, Infuse 4G users had to live with their outdated firmware version.
A small set back is that it is not the Ice cream sandwich OS update that is coming instead the phone will be bumped to Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread operating system. Still, the users are very thrilled that finally they are getting a major upgrade for their device.
Features of the new Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread update:
New multi touch on screen keyboard
Improved copy and paste for file transfer
Silent mode replaced with Flight mode
Presence of download manager to monitor and control large file downloads
Availability of new fonts like Cool jazz
Improved control over applications and better power management
New widgets are added
Redefined visual interface
Users will have to go to Samsung’s website and download it. This is also a bit strange since all the upgrades now days are given as over the air files. So this is one another small hurdle you will have to jump over in order to get your Gingerbread update. But once you get it you won’t be disappointed. The update was in the making for very long and the results are obvious. The phone will get a complete overhaul in visual effects and features.
The new version has a completely redefined android keyboard where the keys have good spacing and also there are quick launch icons at the top. Traffic widget is added to the list of available widgets. The menu has got a completely different look. New applications like Google books have been added.
The download link in Samsung’s website is inactive as for now but we can expect it would become active any time soon.
