Samsung launching new Omnia W and Galaxy W smartphones
Samsung Omnia W and Samsung Galaxy W are both very powerful smart phones that work on different platforms. Both of them packs in very amazing features and specs and offer the customer with a very good value for their money.
Samsung Omnia W has dimensions of 115.6 mm x 58.8 mm x 10.9 mm and weighs in at 115.3 grams. On the other hand Samsung Galaxy W has dimensions of 115.5 mm x 59.8 mm x 11.5 mm and weighs in at 114.7 gram. This means that both the phones have almost similar sizes and at around 115 grams they are extremely light too.
Samsung Galaxy W and Samsung Omnia features 3.7 inch displays but differ in the technology used. The former uses a TFT capacitive touch screen where as the latter has super AMOLED touch screen display. The display resolutions and pixel density are also same.
The phones have a screen resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and a pixel density of 252 pixels per inch. The screens can produce 16 million different colours. Both the phones have dual cameras and the main and secondary camera in both is same. The main camera has a resolution of 5 mega pixels and can take pictures with a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. The camera has auto focus features as well as an integrated LED flash. They can record videos with 720p clarity and at a speed of about 30 frames per second. The secondary camera has VGA quality and is intended for video calling.
Samsung Omnia W has 8GB of internal storage and 512MB of RAM. There is no expandable memory slot though. Samsung Galaxy W has 1.7 GB of internal storage space and 512 MB of RAM. The memory can be increase by the addition of microSD type external memory card. The phones are powered by Qualcomm 8255 Snapdragon processor. The major difference in the phones is in the operating system. Galaxy W has Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread operating system and Omnia W has Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango operating system.
Samsung Omnia W has a price tag of about Rs.18,500/- in India and Samsung Galaxy W price is expected to be in the same range. Since most of the specifications in both the phones are similar the operating system as well as the memory requirements will be the main deciding factor in the customer’s point of view.
