Top 6 Smartphone / Phablets Boasting 1080p Full HD Display to Debut in 2013
With the announcement of HTC Butterfly, a slew of products are rumoured and leaked with 1080p display for 2013. Usually, 720p displays are common on smartphones while the 1080p makes sense only on tablets. With the added resolution, phone makers are going to boast about how photos and videos are sharper and clearer, but there is no way consumers can find out the difference between the two.
However, analysts and tech experts claim that one advantage a 1080p smartphone would have over 720p and lower devices is more breathing room for user interface elements such as buttons and text. For example, a higher resolution would allow for more pixels of a website to appear or more words in an email.
As it is the era of 1080p display incorporated smartphones and phablets, Gizbot has come up with devices that are rumored to have such devices and to be launched in 2013.
Samsung Galaxy S4
Following the huge success with Galaxy S3 - the current flagship smartphone, the South Korean tech giant is in the spotlightregarding the successor - Galaxy S4. The handset will be reportedly launched in April/May 2013.
Going by the recent rumors, Galaxy S4 could have a 5 inch OLED display, ARM Cortex A15 quad-core processor, 16GB/32GB/64GB/128GB internal storage options, 3GB RAM, 13MP rear camera, 1.9MP front camera, 3,200 mAh battery and LTE and NFC connectivity features.
LG Optimus G2
LG is reportedly prepping a superior package that can surge the mobile space - successor of Optimus G with better specs on board.
According to a recent report, Optimus G2 will sport a 5.5 inch 1080p display with 440 ppi pixel density, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie and quad core 2GHz processor. Recently, HTC has announced the global version of Droid DNA and J Butterfly dubbed as Butterfly with a 5 inch 1080p display.
Huawei Ascend Mate
Huawei, the Chinese manufacturer is rumored to launch a 6.1 inch gigantic device at the CES 2013 event. When it comes to rumored specifications, Ascend Mate will have a massive 6.1 inch 1080p display, third generation K3V3 1.8GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and 4,000 mAh battery.
Analyzing the specs, if the rumors turn to be true, the upcoming Huawei device could definitely be a rival to the Apple and Samsung biggies out there.
Sony Xperia Z
Sony Xperia Z also known as Yuga will be launched at CES 2013 with a water resistant and dust proof build. Also, it will receive the IP57 certification for water and dust resistance and low reflectivity screen.
Going by the earlier rumors, Xperia Z smartphone could pack a 5 inch display with 1080p resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad core processor, Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean OS, 12MP/13MP rear camera with HD quality, OptiContrast technology, which is used in Sony TelevisionsX for vivid color with outstanding contrast, 2GB RAM, micro SD card slot for expandable memory support, HDMI out port and a unibody construction.
HTC M7
Taiwanese tech giant, HTC, the company is rumored to uncover its upcoming flagship device - M7, which is rumored to sport a high resolution 4.7 inch touchscreen display.
As of now, there is no official information from HTC regarding the new handset, however, ongoing rumors and speculations hint that the handset could come with 4.7 inch 1080p SLCD 3 display, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5.0, 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad core processor with a new GPU, 13MP rear camera and 2.1MP front camera for video calling, Beats Audio integration and a 2,300 mAh battery.
ZTE Grand 5
ZTE has not revealed much about the smartphone until now. However, it is known that the phone will be equipped with a 5 inch full high definition 1080p display, ceramic body and will be the thinnest FHD phone in the world.
While the other specs of the handset are still not known, ZTE is reportedly planning to launch the device at the CES 2013.
