Snapdeal Launches ‘Alpha Feather’ Smartphone at Rs 12,999
Following the footsteps of Flipkart, India-based online retailer Snapdeal has launched a new smartphone named Alpha Feather, under its launchpad program. The 5-inch Android phone is now available for purchase at Snapdeal for Rs. 12,999.
The phone, Alpha Feather, is a mid-range phone packing above average specifications. The Android 4.4 Kitkat handset has a large 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080-pixels. Snapdeal claims the "Alpha Feather" to be the world's lightest 5-inch smartphone available in the market. The phone weighs in at 125g and measures 6.8mm in terms of thickness.

Under the hood is a 1.3GHz quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 4GB of ROM, which can be later expanded via a microSD card slot. On the imaging front, the device has a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, and an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter. The makers have added a 2500mAh battery fitted inside.Connectivity options on the device are as follows: 3G, WiFi, GPS, A-GPS, FM Radio, Dual-SIM and more.

We launched this platform to support creativity and innovation amongst new age entrepreneurs," Snapdeal Senior Vice President (Electronics & Home) Tony Navin said in a press statement.

Earlier last week, Flipkart launched a tablet computer under its private label, Digiflip. The Digiflip Pro XT712 tablet comes with a 7-inch IPS display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution. The slate is powered by a quad-core processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage. There is a 5MP rear-facing camera with an LED Flash, and a 2MP front-facing shooter. Connectivity options are as follows: 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS / A-GPS and USB OTG, Voice calling, Dual-SIM, and a 3,000 mAh battery inside. The tablet costs Rs. 9,999.
