Sony Unleashes Xperia ZR With Water Resistant Build, HD Display, 13MP Camera and More

Sony Mobile Communications has now officially announced the new Xperia Zr and has posted a teaser of the smartphone on its YouTube channel. The smartphone seems to be the diminished version of Xperia Z as it resembles it in design.

With its stunning capability to shoot underwater stills and video in HD format, the device may have a positive reception. The samrtphone comes with the 13.1 megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash and front facing camera. The main feature of the Xperia ZR that makes it a "talk of the town" is also because of its water resistant feature with an IP55/IP58 rating which is surprisingly higher than that of Xperia Z with has IP55/IP57 rating. Amazingly, it can be exposed to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. Sony thus goes as far as calling the Xperia ZR, the pinnacle of its mobile engineering process.

The price of the Xperia ZR remains a mystery so far, but it has been announced that the handset will be released in Q2 2013. Further, the handset will come in four color options including Pink, Cyan, Black and White.
