Sony Will Own Handset Business Of Sony Ericsson
Both the companies, jointly has come up with innumerous products for the customers across the globe. But it is expected that in the coming years we may not be able to see the two brand names, Sony and Ericsson being used together as Sony has plans to buy out Ericsson. Yes, Sony has decided to establish 100% control over Ericsson. Today Ericsson is one among the top ten mobile phone manufacturers in the whole world. According to sources Sony might buy out Ericsson for $ 1.5 billion very soon.
In the past ten years, the joint venture company has come up with immense number of products both in the mobile as well as in the digital camera category. Quite unfortunately the mobile phones could not generate much business for Sony Ericsson.
Well at this point of time Sony is planning to exclusively focus on the mobile smartphones and tablets segment which has already become one of the booming segment as far as digital gadgets are concern. The present step is only an initiative towards the long run strategies and corporate goals. According to sources, Sony is planning to make a good and firm position in the android based smartphone segment. As of now, there are only limited mobile phones with android platform being promoted by Sony Ericsson which holds many disadvantages too. Once the joint venture becomes single owned, it is anticipated the best research and development team from Sony will come up with innumerous high quality smartphones in the future. This will help the company to enhance their business in the mobile market.
At present the first and foremost strategy through this acquisition by Sony is to bring all the operations under one roof. So that the company can go along with the production of television, cameras and mobile phones as well, from one place. Moreover the company can also exclusively focus on the production of media players too, which already has a huge demand in the global market. Sony also foresees to incorporate mobile phone, tablet and gaming gadgets under the supervision of best research and development team of the company so that product can be developed on android platform with excellent gaming options which is expected to generate good business.
The acquisition might apparently kill Ericsson in the near future, but we could expect more stunning and stylish products from Sony with world class quality in the smartphone and tablet segment.
