Soon after hitting the Indian smartphone arena with the Xperia Z and ZL, Sony announced the release of Xperia SP at Rs 25,490. It seems like the Japanese tech giant is highly concentrating on the Indian market in order to increase its smartphone market share as the company has now come up with another offering.
Remember Xperia L? The handset was announced alongside Xperia SP in March. While Xperia SP has already been released in the market, there were no details about its kin. Now, it seems like Sony has brought some good news for the Android fans in the country.
Well, online retailer Infibeam has listed Xperia L for pre-order at Rs 18,990 and the listing claims that the handset will be released on May 8, 2013. Also, it reveals that the price of Xperia L is Rs 19,990 and it is offering a disocunt of Rs 1,000.
As far as specs are concerned, Xperia L boasts a 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 854 x 480 pixel resolution, 1GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 Plus processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 8MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 8GB internal storage, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS, NFC and a 1,750 mAh battery.
If Sony launches the Xperia L at Rs 18,990, it is evident that the Japanese tech giant is looking forward to outdo Nokia Lumia 720, the latest Windows Phone 8 handset released in the market with a similar price of Rs 18,999.
Speaking of specs, Lumia 720 houses a 4.3-inch Clear Black display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, 1GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 512MB RAM , 8GB internal storage, micro SD card slot supporting up to 64GB additional storage, 6.7MP rear shooter with Carl Zeiss optics, 1.3MP front camera, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 2,000 mAh battery.
Obviously, with a better camera performance and battery backup, Lumia 720 is a good offering as compared to Xperia L. However, both are based on different operating systems - Android Jelly Bean and Windows Phone 8, which will predominantly win the consumers' choice.
