Last year Sony announced about updating an array of Xperia devices to the newer version of Android and now the roll-out of the updates are heading towards its completion. The latest one to receive the update is the Xperia M. But don't get confused here. It's just the single SIM variant of the handset that got the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update recently. While the Dual SIM version of the Xpeira M is yet to receive it.
Now the online reports have appeared saying that the dual SIM Xperia M has also started receiving the same update. Select markets where the Xperia M dual SIM was launched which includes India can now download the Android 4.3 update. However, it's only available via Sony PC Companion desktop software. The OTA update will rolled out soon, which the company has not mentioned so far.
Sony released the long-awaited Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Xperia M less than a week ago, but the dual version of the smartphone has been left out from the initial rollout. The device was initially launched with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.
Those who have not received the update should manually check for firmware version 15.5.A.0.18 by connecting their Xperia M dual phones to a PC via Sony PC Companion application. The update weighs 770MB.
Aside from bringing the phone's software to version Android 4.3, the update adds some new features and improvements that will make user's experience much smoother. There's a new White Xperia UI included, along with Sony Smart Social camera application. Moreover, Sony Xperia M dual user will be given access to downloadable Xperia themes. Some security enhancements have been included in the update as well, but no additional details have been provided.
The release of the Android 4.4.3 suggests that the latest version will focus on bug fixes and minor tweaks.
