Revealed back in February at Mobile World Congress 2014 trade fair, the Xperia M2 finally went on sale a few months later in May. The mid-range smartphone from Sony, at that time, was powered by Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.
As revealed by XperiaBlog, "Sony has begun to rollout the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update for the Xperia M2 (only D2303 and D2306 LTE variants so far). The update moves the build number from 18.3.C.0.40 to 18.3.1.C.0.21. The issue of delayed audio has been fixed."
Sony, if you can re-collect, had already delivered an Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade back in August, for both Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Dual. However, the company had also promised to push out the upgraded KitKat platform in the future. And now, as per its promises, the company has delivered.
So if you are an owner of either of the two handset, you should be looking out for firmware version 18.3.1.C.0.21, which should also deliver the devices to Android 4.4.4 KitKat. However, guesses could be made that what the users are actually looking for here is the new Lollipop update.
However, for the time being, we have no idea if the handsets are also scheduled for a future Lollipop update or not. Let us know if you have received the update on your phones or not.
