At the IFA 2012 in Berlin, Sony unveiled three smartphones Xperia T, Xperia V and Xperia J, which are informed by the Japanese phone maker to hit the market shelves in October.
However, recently a newsbreak has come up, which suggests that the Xperia Tipo – the budget Android ICS smartphone launched by Sony – back in June along with Xperia Dual and Xperia Miro has gone up for pre-order in the Indian market via Flipkart.com at a price of Rs 9,499.
Though a specific release date for the Xperia Tipo smartphone is not mentioned, however the listing has claimed that it will be released in the second week of September.
Sony Xperia Tipo – Key Specifications
Display and Dimensions: Xperia Tipo is nicely designed like any other Sony Xperia offering and measure a dimension of 103 x 57 x 13 mm along with a weight of around 99.4 grams.

Battery: Sony Xperia Tipo has been informed by the company to offer a decent battery life of 4.5 hours talk time and 545 hours standby, as the handset will come loaded with 1,500 mAh Li-ion battery.
Connectivity: Sony Xperia Tipo connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro USB and 3G. The various applications such as Google Talk, Google mail, Google Voice Search and Google Maps with Street View and Latitude will all come preloaded on an Xperia Tipo.
Well it seems that Xperia Tipo with such a low price tag will deifinatrely give a tough competition to all the other budget Android smartphones including Samsung Galaxy Y, which is also priced in the sub Rs 10,000 range and one of the top-selling smartphone in the country right now.
Talking about specs, Samsung Galaxy Y features Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread), 830 Mhz of processing capability, 290 MB of available RAM, a rear 2 megapixel camera, micro sd card support and more.
Hence, Galaxy Y may be a lighter and thinner smartphone when compared to Xperia Tipo, however the latter handset is surely a better package and comes packed with advance specs when compared to the former.
