Exclusive: Sony Prepping Xperia Phablet With Extra Large Display To Take On Galaxy Note 3
The street is abuzz with rumors of Sony getting into large sized phablet devices. Everyone is aware about much hyped Togari codenamed C680X - the one with 6.3-inch display with resolution of 1080p Full HD.
Well at the Xperia Tablet Z launch event held in Delhi on May 29, GizBot thought to confirm the company sources. When asked about whether Sony is prepared to tackle forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3 or not, the company source close to the matter told GizBot that the Sony is working on a device with bigger display.

Obviously, the source was reluctant to share this info, but later told us that there is a handset with extra large display. It's in a prototype form at the moment. It should be announced either at IFA Berlin 2013 or CES 2014.
Going by the past record, Sony announced Xperia Z earlier this year at CES 2013. The handset managed to gather much attention because lack of competition from Samsung at the event. GizBot suspect the mysterious handset from Sony will be revealed at CES 2014 instead of IFA Berlin. However, in the past XperiaBlog has noted that the phablet will hit the market in the second half of 2013.
Today on the sidelines of Xperia Tablet Z launch, GizBot got another big reveal. The update is that Sony is promoting Xperia Tablet Z and the Xperia Z, as pure Sony devices because they come with Walkman, Cyber-shot like famed technologies.
GizBot was curious to know from Sony - why the company is so reluctant by not using Walkman and Cyber-shot names on the device itself?
While, conversing, we connected this instance with the alleged Xperia i1 Honami which has been floating in the tech rumor world lately. Relative, the inside source over at Sony clearly informed that Walkman and Cybershot are integral part of Sony. The company is making devices under Xperia brand to promote ‘One Sony' strategy. So, in the future also the upcoming device would carry Xperia brand only. Hence, it seems that according to rumors, the the 20MP camera phone which Sony might be prepping to tackle Samsung Galaxy 4 Zoom; won't carry Cybershot branding on the top.
Apart from that the company source also informed that Sony is working to bring PlayStation Mobile service in India. It is being planned to be rolled out for Indian consumers. It should be out before year end, as told to us by an executive over at Sony. Stay tuned to GizBot.
