Sony Xperia U Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OTA Update Pegged for December Release: What About Top 5 Rivals of Mid-Range Stylish Smartphone?

Japanese tech giant Sony has sizzled the tech market with a plethora of smartphone launches this year including Xperia S, Xpertia U, Xperia J, Xperia T and many more.

Coming to Xperia U, the third handset in launched in the Xperia lineup, the handset was launched with Gingerbread operating system, it received the Android 4.0 ICS upgrade and now, it is getting upgraded to Jelly Bean.

According to a recent Techkiddy report, Sony Mobile Italy Facebook page has mentioned that Xperia U will receive the official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade. The OTA update will be rolled out to Xperia U starting from December.

Detailing on specs, Xperia U houses a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 854 x 480 pixel resolution and Reality display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, dual core 1GHz processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 8GB internal storage and 512MB RAM.

Also, the handset comes packed with connectivity features including Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, in-built GPS and micro USB 2.0 and has a 1,320 mAh Li-ion battery, which offers 6.5 hours talk time and 472 hours standby.

Further, the handset has a better look and feel with overhauled design and colored mood changing lights in the illumination bar.

With a price tag of Rs 14,999 the handset completely falls within the budget of the price conscious Indian consumer base and hence, many consumers might be interested to buy the stunning smartphone.

As the company is in plans to roll out the Jelly Bean upgrade to Xperia U, the handset could be a rival to other smartphones that have already received or in queue to receive the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade.
