Sony Xperia Z2 and Flagship Tablet With 4G LTE Support Get FCC Approval
It looks like a harsh battle this year between Samsung and Sony's upcoming flagship smartphones, with 2K display resolution, will be pretty apparent. Samsung's Galaxy S5 may have been making rounds in the web space time after time, but so has Sony's Xpeia Z2. Now, the Japan-based smartphone maker, Sony has already taken its Xperia Z2 through the FCC certification process.

But FCC didn't just approve the Xperia Z2 smartphone as another device was also certified at the same time. This unknown device could probably be the company's upcoming flagship tablet for 2014.

The smartphone was sighted at the FCC database with a model number- PM-0740-BV. According to a reliable Japanese blog, this is the rumored Xperia Sirius D6503 (codename) which could be eventually named Xperia Z2 when it will hit the market.

According to the FCC filings, the PM-0740-BV (Xperia Z2) will feature Wi-Fi b/g/n/a/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, and support for the following LTE bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 20. This means that the handset will be compatible with the 4G LTE networks of three major US carriers: Verizon (bands 4 and 13), AT&T (bands 2, 4 and 17), and T-Mobile (band 4).
The smartphone which Sony might announce this February at the MWC 2014 event has been rumored to come with Android 4.4 KitKat OS out of the box. Apart from this, it is speculated to come with a 5.2-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560) display, dual speakers, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8974-AB processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, and a 20.7MP (or 23MP) rear camera. Moreover, like the latest Sony devices, the Xperia Z2 would also come with a waterproof build.

On the other hand, the tablet (TM-0043-BV) which has been recorded at the FCC database comes with the same connectivity options as we have seen on the Xperia Z2 smartphone above. According to the same Japanese Blog, the flagship tablet comes with a codename Castor. Moreover, the blog-site also reports that the particular tablet would go on sale in Japan by Q2 this year through NTT docomo and KDDI.
Sony has not spoken about the two devices officially as yet and there are no confirmation on the specs as of now. However, you can expect to see the flagship smartphone and tablet at the Mobile World Congress 2104 (MWC), which will be held in Barcelona, Spain later this February.
