Sony Xperia Z2 Hands on Review and First Look: Appealing Hardware, but lacks an 'oomph' factor
Sony Xperia Z2- Processor, Software and Battery
Like any other high-end handset, the Z2 also comes with the latest Android 4.4 Kitkat mobile OS. Sony has slapped number of its core services such as Music Unlimited, among others, just to highlight that it also exists somewhere in the world. The UI typically reflects Sony's style; though, the experience has been marginally improved.
The handset is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor , backed by 3GB of RAM. Going by the specs, we'd not be surprised to see the actual output. The makers have added a non-removable 3200mAh battery fitted inside.
Sony Xperia Z2- 20.7 MP Camera and 4K recording capability
The Sony Xperia Z2 has a same 20.7 MP rear-facing camera you'll find on both the Xperia Z1 and the Xperia Z1 Compact. Well, to be honest, the Z1's camera doesn't give you sharper images. At full resolution, the camera performs well but in automatic mode, the images turned out to be overexposed. The Z2's major problem is its auto-focus; however, we'd like to try the device again in order to give a final judgement.
The Z2's camera is also capable of recording videos in 4K resolution. Although the phone captures 4K videos without any issues, but do we have that kind of money to buy a futuristic 4K TV for the output?
Sony Xperia Z2- Final Words
The Sony Xperia Z2 is a monster phone with a giant 5.2-inch Full HD display, latest processor, rugged design, a slightly improved camera with 4K resolution support, and not to forget the latest Android software. It's a great phone indeed but you need a lot of cash to afford it. The phone looks identical to the its predecessor, so there's nothing new in terms of design. We think it's not worth upgrading, until and unless you have hard cash to burn.
