Sony Xperia Z2 Review: Processor and Benchmark
As we mentioned before, the Xperia Z2 has a powerful 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM running under the hoods.
In fact, this is the same MSM8974AB chipset that's also found in the HTC One M8, although clocked a bit slower at 2.23 GHz. But the part that will attract you the most in this instance is that the Z2 gets 3GB of RAM which then offers you with about 1.3GB RAM free at any point in time.
The device's gaming performance is fairly at par with the other Snapdragon 801 phones we've seen lately. Of course we did experience a bit of frame rate drop while playing high-end titles such as Dead Trigger 2 or Asphalt 8, but those can be considered as minor set-backs to an anyway great experience.
As far as benchmark tests and scores are concerned, the Z2 scored 32,870 (which is quite good) via the AnTuTu Benchmark app. In fact, the device scores just below notable names like HTC One M8, Samsung Galaxy S5 and LG G2.
And one thing that we did notice with the Z2 is the fact that the Z2 heats up pretty quickly when playing background HD videos or shooting stills. In fact, it heated up a bit within a minute or so when we started carrying on the benchmark tests on the device.
