Sony Xperia Z3 - Key Specifications

Sony Xperia Z3 pushes the boundaries to the next-level. Not just the device's design is magical, but the fitted hardware is equally enchanting. The latest Xperia Z3 houses a 5.2-inch Full HD display ( 1920 x 1080) which churns out a pixel density of 424 ppi. The phone's screen is 20 % more brighter than the Z2's display The display is impressive and texts look crisp and readable in direct sunlight.

The Xperia Z3's internal processor is clocked at 2.5GHz and the same Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor present in the Xperia Z2. The premium phone runs Android 4.4 (KitKat) out-of-the box and is backed up with a 3,100mAh battery fitted inside.

Apart from that, the Sony Xperia Z3 comes with a monster camera. The Xperia X3's 20.7MP camera is one of the best in the industry. Well the sensor now has light sensitivity up to ISO 12800 , while other phones in the same class will go up to ISO 800. All this means that photos will be sharp and noise free. Furthermore, the Xperia Z3's rear-back camera is also capable enough to record 4K videos. That's because Xperia smartphones have been our most loved smartphones for recording crisp video quality.

In comparison to the Apple iPhone 6, which comes with a 4.7-inch Retina HD LED display, the Sony Xperia Z3 boasts a greater 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080.

Apart from the bigger and better display, the Xperia Z3 is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor under the hood, paired with 3GB of RAM. Compared to that, the iPhone 6 uses a 1.4GHz dual-core A8 chipset, paired with 1GB of RAM.

To that to that, the Sony Xperia Z3 offers microSD card support, which the Apple iPhone 6 still lacks.


Samsung's Galaxy S5 may come closest to the Xperia Z3 in respect of raw specs but the Sony-made device still stands tall with the inclusion of a large 3,100 battery. Compared to that, the Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a 2,800mAh battery.

Moreover, the Galaxy S5's 16-megapixel rear-facing camera easily get outclassed by the Xperia Z3's 20.7-megapixel back camera.

Well, Samsung's Galaxy Alpha is being helmed as a metal clad phone. However, when it comes to specifications and highlighted features, it easily falls short compared to sexy Sony Xperia Z3. So, here are some major differences between the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Sony Xperia Z3.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha has a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 720p. To add to that, the Sony Xperia Z3 comes with a 5.2-inch TRILUMINOS Display ( 1920 x 1080).

That's not the end. The Galaxy Alpha uses an octa-core processor that is made out of four quad-core processors -- a 1.8GHz quad-core Cortex A15 configuration and a 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex A7 one. The handset offers 2GB of RAM and 32GB of fixed internal storage. Also, the Galaxy Alpha's octa-core processor can't be compared with a fast and zippy quad-core processor of the Xperia Z3.

While the HTC One (M8) features a 4-megapixel UltraPixel rear facing camera and a 5-megapixel front facing camera, the Sony Xperia Z3, on the other hand, offers a respectable 20.7-megapixel rear camera , and a 2.2MP front-facing shooter. The latter handset is also efficient in recording 4K videos.

The HTC One (M8) isn't a rugged handset, while the Sony Xperia Z3 is IP 65 and IP 68 rated, which makes the device water resistant and dust proof.


The Sony Xperia Z3 is powered by a 3,100 mAh battery, while the Motorola Moto X ( 2014) sports a mere 2300mAh battery.

Another area where the Xperia Z3 stands out is in the memory department. The Xperia Z3 offers 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which further expanded up to 128GB via microSD support. In comparison to that, the Motorola-made Moto X ( 2014) doesn't support expandable memory.


Nokia's latest flagship, the Lumia 930, is now available in India but it hardly offer anything new, especially, in terms of hardware. The Lumia 930 looks like an ordinary handset, whereas the Xperia Z3 is crafted out of premium materials.

The Nokia Lumia 930 is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, in comparison to that, the Xperia Z3 has as much faster 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor.

And similar to the Moto X ( 2014), the Nokia Lumia 930 has a mere 2,420mAh battery. As mentioned earlier, the Xperia Z3 comes with a large 3,100mAh battery.


The Google Nexus 5 incorporates a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and a small 5-inch FHD display. The device also come with a 2,300mAh battery and an 8MP/1.3MP dual cameras. The Sony Xperia Z3, on the hand, offers a zippy processor and 3GB RAM. The Sony-made handset houses a mind blowing 20.7MP camera that could an entry level DSLR.

Although the LG G3 Stylus incorporates a large 5.5-inch screen but the display resolution is underwhelming ( 960 x 540). Also, the G3 Stylus is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, paired with 1GB of RAM. The phone has a 13MP camera, compared to the Xperia Z3's 20.7MP shooter. The latter device does a great job when it comes to shooting 4K videos.

The Samsung manufactured Galaxy Grand Prime comes with a 5-inch qHD screen with a resolution of 960 x 540-pixels. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, paired with 1GB of RAM and draws its energy from a 2600mAh battery. There's an 8MP rear-facing camera and a poor front-facing shooter. Well the Galaxy Grand Prime doesn't stand near by the Sony Xperia Z3 in respect of specs and features.

The HTC One (E8) could be compared to the Sony Xperia Z3 in terms of hardware but has more flaws. The Sony Xperia Z3 shines over the HTC One (E8), as the handset is supported by a fast 4G LTE connectivity. Also, the Xperia Z3 is water resistant and dust proof in nature. Both these features make the Sony Xperia Z3 a must buy over any other high-end Android handset.
