It looks like Japan is getting all possible devices from LG and Sony this quarter. Yesterday, along with LG, Sony also announced its latest Xperia ZL2 (SOL25) smartphone for its native market. What is common between the two phones is that both are being carried by Japanese operator KDDI.
Obviously, the latest device is a successor to the company's previously launched Xperia ZL. The Sony Xperia ZL2 comes in Turquoise, White and Black color variants and will be available from the operator around late May 2014.
Sony has also released it flagship device the Xperia Z2 in Indian market at the price of Rs. 49,990. Additionally the company is also offering a free SmartBand with the purchase of the device. However, coming back to the Japan-bound Xperia ZL2, it is an impressive device with the high-end specs and features.
Talking about the specs, the Xperia ZL2 comes with a 5-inch Triluminos Display powered by X-Reality engine and offers a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
It is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974AB) processor with Adreno 330 GPU coupled with 3GB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS.
Very much like the Xperia Z1 nad the recently launcehd successor, the Xperia ZL2 also feature a high-end 20.7MP rear camera with Exmos RS sensor, Sony G lens, 4K video recording, and LED flash. At the front you will also see a 3.1MP unit with BSI sensor.
Obviously, this one also comes with a IP55 / IP58 rating, which means that it is a dust and water resistant device.
Sony is opffering the device with a 32GB inbuilt storage capacity and it is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
Users will get to use a wide range of connectivity options in the device, which include; 4G LTE / WiMAX 2 +, WiFi 820.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 with APT-X, GPS/ GLONASS, MHL 3.0 and NFC.
The handset which measures 10.8mm thick and weighs 167 grams comes powered by a 3000 mAh battery.
The company has not announced the pricing of the device as of now and also there are very less chances of the device to travel outside Japan market. Obviously, the device will jostle against the LG isai FL (LG L24), in the Japanese market, as both are newly released device and comes with somewhat similar specs.
