Sony Mobile has slowly started launching its Xperia V around the world with Russia being its latest target. Formerly launched in Japan, the smartphones are now available for purchase in Russia.
Sony Xperia is a water-proof version of Sony Xperia T. The smartphones released in Russia are highly overpriced. Even though, pricey smartphones are common in the country, Xperia V seems way out of reach being priced at a steep 24,990 rubles (Rs. 44,340 approx.).
Xperia V is now available for purchase only through internet, that too only the black color version. The white color Xperia V is still on pre-order with no clue about when it will be shipped. The smartphones are slated to hit shelves by December 16 though.
Sony Xperia V runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS but the company promises a Jelly Bean upgrade next year. The launch of Xperia V is already under delay in France and the expected date of launch is sometime in January. It will have the Jelly Bean OS. In Japan, it is available for sale as Xperia AX and Xperia VL.
The smartphone runs on dual-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, Adreno 225 GPU, 1 GB RAM, micro SD slot which can be expanded upto 32 GB, 4.3 inch HD display, 13 mp rear camera and 8GB of internal memory.
Xperia V also supports 4G communication (LTE) inclusive of the frequencies used in Russia for 4G communication. The smartphone also will incorporate Multimedia Sony, enabling the users to have access to a plethora of entertainment services. The waterproofing on the phone is compliant with IP55 and IP57 and protects the phone from water and dust.
